Following the announcement of David Grigg joining us as Special Projects Director, we sat down with him to discuss his experience leading a Special Projects division, what clients can expect from a project delivered by Special Projects and much more.
What excites you most about joining Knowles and leading the Special Projects division?
Knowles is an established and well-respected industry leader. The scope of opportunity to build on their already excellent reputation and increase their offering by growing a successful Special Projects division is something I am very excited about.
Can you share some insights into your experience leading a Special Projects division?
It’s fast paced, high pressure and no two projects are the same. The tight timeframes mean I need to have and in-depth knowledge of the projects parameters, ensure I am up to date on my team’s progress and program so I can be responsive to any issues that may occur. Effective and respectful communication is key both within my team and with our clients and partners to ensure the successful completion of a project. Fifteen of my twenty-five years working in construction have been spent within the super-prime Special Projects sector, I wouldn’t change it, I still get a real buzz out of these projects.
What types of projects are best suited to the Special Projects division, and how do they differ from those handled by the main construction team?
The main difference between projects managed by the two teams is time and scale. Typically, Special Projects deliver fast paced, high energy projects on a smaller scale. They require meticulous planning, often with little advance notice, to ensure projects are completed on time and on budget. The experience of our team in working on intense, time pressured projects does not compromise the high-end finish and quality our clients and partners expect.
Tell us a bit about the works typically undertaken by the division
Our projects are incredibly varied, delivering everything from extensions and basement projects to complete refurbishments, remodelling works and very select commercial schemes. They are all bespoke and driven by the individual needs of the client. One day we might be overseeing a fast-track penthouse refurbishment, the next reconfiguring a cinema room. No two projects are the same and, as such, the team are constantly delivering tailored solutions to reflect our clients needs.
What can clients expect from a project delivered by Special Projects?
Our clients will receive the same exceptional service all Knowles’ clients can expect, regardless of the size of their project. Our collaborative and cooperative approach with clients, design teams and partners to achieve our shared goal ensures a positive client experience. Regular communication and transparency enable us to identify and mitigate any potential challenges and reduce their impact on the project. All done with a can-do attitude and smile!
How will Special Projects work alongside the Aftercare team to support clients once their home is complete?
Who better to work with an aftercare team than the team who completed the works initially? We have an intimate knowledge of the project, and will share this with the Aftercare team which will ultimately save the client time and money. Working alongside the Aftercare teams allows us to pool our resources, knowledge and experience in a unique way bringing peace of mind to our clients that there is no challenge we can not overcome.
