Knowles is proud to announce the appointment of Megan Steele-Knowles as a Group Brand and Communications Director, effective from 1st January 2021.
What is your role as Group Brand and Communications Director?
In my role as Group Brand and Communication Director, I am responsible for the external and internal promotion, communication and brand-building of Knowles. With my team, we look after Knowles’ social media channels, ensuring that our regular content is relevant for industry colleagues, as well as prospective new clients. Within our department we also manage the creative design of our projects, which includes everything from signage to the hoarding, and maintain media relationships, a medium of which should not be underestimated in our sector as a prime story-telling platform.

What is your background
My background has always been in PR & Communications – it’s a sector that I have worked in for 10 years. Before joining Knowles, I was at Harrods for 5 years where I looked after the external PR of the Menswear, Sports and Fine Watch departments. It was here that I learnt the importance of managing a global, household luxury brand name, whilst also being part of a clear evolution in the business strategy as digital became an integral part to all PR & Marketing campaigns. Prior to Harrods, I looked after a range of brands within agencies. Whilst my industry was different to that of Construction, the core principles are the same when it comes to brand story-telling and brand building, the importance of which is key to any successful business.
What are your goals for Knowles in the future?
My goal is to continue the good work we have achieved over the past 2 years in building the Knowles brand in London and the Home Counties and continue the consistent story-telling that we have worked hard to ensure is heard across all our public channels. The coming years are very exciting for Knowles, as we embark on larger projects and continue our geographical evolution into the Home Counties, which opens the scope to who we can talk, market to and engage with. Furthermore, I want to ensure that Knowles continues to be recognised within the industry and our clients, as a trusted name in complex construction. Our specialist skills and workforce are what sets us apart from the rest, and through strategic PR and Marketing, I want to ensure that those that need and want to hear about us, do. The construction sector can often be neglected when it comes to elevated marketing and PR, so it is my plan to ensure that Knowles do the opposite. I want our clients (past, present and future), the communities in which we operate as well as the wider sector, to continue to hear our news and insight, learn about our projects, and meet our team members – as it is this story-telling that builds a brand and we have lots to talk about at Knowles!
What are your values as a company leader?
As a family business, a collaborative, supportive and innovative working ethos is key. Our friendly, positive and highly-experienced approach is widely recognised, and as we grow, it is important that we don’t lose sight of this.
