An iconic London location
Knowles Construction has been appointed as Principal Contractor on a new project located in Kensington, London.
The project will significantly transform the eastern wing of one of the capitals most iconic streets in Kensington with an aesthetically-sensitive, and innovatively designed mixed-use scheme. Knowles’ complex scope of works includes the retention and restoration of the buildings prominent street facing façade with highly engineered temporary works, the extensive and sensitive demolition of the rear structure of which is to be replaced with the erection of new modernised structure, and due to the projects location, highly-skilled and engineered management and monitoring of the neighbouring TFL interface.

This project demonstrates Knowles’ ability to work on both residential and commercial schemes, with complex works such as the nearby TFL interface and facade retention, located alongside a busy pedestrian highway. On this project, our wide-ranging construction capabilities are being put to practice.

Regeneration Development
Due for structural completion in Q1 of 2022, the project will see the creation of 4 luxury residential units and retail spaces.
Sitting in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, within a highly sought-after retail location and one of London’s most prestigious communities, this project provides the opportunities for a regeneration of the local community, addition of revitalised retails spaces and the creation of residential units.
Safeguarding the area
To ensure the safeguarding of the Kensington Conservation Area and adjacent Conservation Areas appearance and character through high-quality design, the projects ambition is to:
- Develop of a range of residential units to respond to the changing market and to planning policy
- Engage with local stakeholder groups and neighbours to involve them in the design process
- Respect neighbouring amenity
- Create proposals that are in keeping with sustainability measures and a reduction in carbon emissions
